Functions of the Different Divisions/Units in the Bureau Curriculum Development Division 1. Provides assistance and consultant service in the dissemination of information on the secondary school curriculum and its implementation; 2. Coordinates research projects on curricular innovations which are initiated by the Bureau for implementation in the field; 3. Brings to the field the results of research studies that would be relevant to them as implementing units of the Department of Education; 4. Provides technical assistance on the use of educational media, audio-visual aids, and other forms of instructional technology; 5. Provides assistance in research projects initiated by the field; 6. Assists the field in upgrading of student achievement by developing educational standards in the different subject areas; 7. Assists in the evaluation of the usefulness of teaching strategies for the implementation of the secondary curriculum; and 8. Performs such other functions as may be provided by law. Staff Development Division 1. Formulates plans and programs to upgrade the competencies of the teaching and non-teaching staff of secondary schools; 2. Provides consultant service and expert advice in seminars, workshops and conferences at the regional/division offices; 3. Conducts studies to assess and evaluate the implementation of the staff development programs and make the necessary recommendations for improvement; 4. Studies proposals submitted from the field in connection with staff development; 5. Disseminates the results of studies and researches on staff development that may be of interest to teachers and non-teachers in secondary schools in the field; 6. Exercises functional supervision on matters pertaining to faculty and staff development; and 7. Performs such other functions as may be provided by law. Administrative Staff 1. Administer all personnel matters including the implementation of personnel training program; 2. Extend support services to all the operating divisions; 3. Provide the management with the necessary financial information which will help the operating and technical divisions in planning, directing and coordinating their programs and activities in solving financial aspects. 4. Institute budgetary controls, and prepare budget proposals. 5. Prepare and submits financial reports and statements; 6. Procure, store and distribute supplies, materials and equipment necessary in the operation of the Bureau; 7. Maintain security and safeguard to government funds and properties; and 8. Perform such other functions as may be provided.
